SIT: a product of our own, from design pack to live sign-up.

SIT (Stuff I Like) saves things from any shop into lists you share with the right people. It is our own product, which means we carry the risk as well as the code.

The idea

Everyone keeps a wishlist somewhere: a shop's own list, a note on a phone, twenty open tabs. SIT, short for Stuff I Like, is one list for things from any shop. You save something, put it in a list, and choose who can see each list. Friends and family can reserve a gift without the list owner finding out. When a price drops, you get an email.

SIT is our own product, run by a sister company. Building for ourselves means we make the same decisions we ask clients to make, and live with them.

From design pack to working app

SIT started as a design pack: a brand bible, a tone-of-voice guide, flow diagrams and a clickable prototype. The brand is near-black, off-white and one sharp lime, set in Inter, with a voice that fits on a button: "See it. SIT it." The app was built straight from those rules.

The stack is Laravel 13 with Inertia and React on the front end and Postgres underneath. The first production release went live in October 2026, with continuous integration running the test suite on every change and a deploy that refuses code that has not passed.

Saving from any shop

Saving a product sounds simple until you try it. Many large retailers refuse requests that come from a server, so a link pasted into SIT cannot always be read from our end. Some shops work well from the server, many do not.

The answer was a browser extension. The SIT button reads the product from the page you are already looking at, in your own browser, and saves it. Links can also be pasted, shared from a phone's share sheet or added with a bookmarklet.

Lists for the right people

A birthday list is for family, a Christmas list might be for friends and family, and the new flat list is private. SIT lets you grant each list to the groups who should see it. Group members never learn which group they are in, and gift reservations are hidden from the list owner, so surprises stay surprises. A preview shows you exactly what each group sees.

Price drops without spam

Price and stock checks run on a schedule, more often for items with alerts switched on, with back-off for shops that fail and a limit per retailer so no shop is hammered. Alert emails need a verified address and are capped at ten a day, and the stop link only acts when you press the button, so an email scanner following links cannot unsubscribe you by accident. Where a shop blocks server checks, the extension can check prices from your own browser if you opt in, shop by shop.

Privacy by default

SIT carries no ads and no tracking. Sign-up requires confirming you are 18 or over and accepting the terms, with the version and time recorded, and marketing email is off unless you tick it.

Try SIT. It is free.
