Who we are
webdesigndundee.agency is the platforms, apps and brand side of a Dundee studio that is part of Purple Imp. Purple Imp was founded in 2016 by Barrie Moran, who has been building for the web for more than 25 years.
Our sister studio, Web Design Dundee, builds websites for Dundee businesses. This side of the studio builds the things that sit behind and beyond a website: web apps, booking and subscription platforms, integrations, brand identities and AI assistants.
What we look after
We build, host and look after more than 130 live websites, counted in September 2026. They run on our own servers, behind the Bunny CDN and a web application firewall, with nightly backups. Each site runs as its own system user, so one site cannot reach another. When something needs patching, it is patched by people who know the code.
How we like to work
- The people who build it are the people you talk to. No account managers in between.
- Working software early. You see it on a staging copy long before launch.
- Nothing invented. We do not publish reviews we do not have, numbers we cannot check or claims we cannot stand behind, on our sites or yours.
- We stay. Most of what we build, we keep running. That changes how carefully you build it.
Why Dundee
Dundee is a city of games studios, designers, coders and two universities known for computing, games and design. It is a good place to build software, and many of the businesses we work with have roots in Tayside, though the platforms reach far beyond it. We are happy to work with teams anywhere in the UK.

A five-site city platform with an AI assistant for Visit Dundee, a football platform for PLZ, a subscription and route-planning platform for Doorstep Glass Recycling, a WordPress-to-Laravel move for MyFootballFacts, and our own wishlist product, SIT.
