Custom web development, when a theme is not enough
Most websites can be built from a good theme. Some cannot. They pull in live data, take payments in more than one way, show different things to different people, or need to load in a fraction of a second on a phone in a car park. That is where custom web development earns its place, and where we spend most of our time.
We write sites and applications in Laravel, with hand-written HTML and CSS rather than a page builder. Pages are rendered on the server so they are fast and readable by search engines before any JavaScript runs. Where something needs to be interactive, we add it on top rather than building the whole page in a framework.
What you get
- Code you own. It lives in a private Git repository, and every change is tracked.
- A staging copy. Changes are built and checked on a password-protected copy before they reach your live site.
- Tests where they matter. The parts that take money, send email or change data have automated tests, so a later change cannot quietly break them.
- Search basics done properly. Unique titles, canonical addresses, structured data, a sitemap, redirects for every old address.
- Accessibility. We build to WCAG 2.2 AA and check it with automated audits and a keyboard.
Hosted and looked after by the people who built it
Your site runs on our own servers, behind the Bunny CDN and a web application firewall, with nightly backups. Each site runs under its own system user, so one site cannot read another's files. We patch the servers ourselves, which means when a security fix lands, it is applied by someone who knows your code.
That is not a sales line. When a serious PHP flaw was published in October 2026, every version that serves a site on our servers was patched the same evening, and the sites were checked before and after.
Rebuilds and migrations
A lot of our web development work is moving something that already exists onto a better footing. MyFootballFacts moved from WordPress to Laravel one section at a time, carrying 10,002 posts and 17,005 redirects with it. PLZ moved from WordPress to a Laravel and Vue platform, and every old address that had earned search traffic was mapped to its new home.
If your site has outgrown its plugins, we will read what is there, tell you what we find, and suggest whether to rebuild, migrate in stages or leave it alone.
